Coyote Grill Series

The heart of every outdoor kitchen is the grill so when it comes to choosing one you’ll want to make sure you’re choosing the best one. Coyote are one of the best known grill brands, so you may be considering purchasing one of them for your backyard.

We’ll look at their C-series and S-series grills as well as their Asado smoker and grill and the Centaur hybrid grill. So depending on your cooking preferences there’s a Coyote grill for everyone.

C-Series

The C-series of grills are made from high quality 304 stainless steel and come in a range of sizes, 28, 34, 36, and 42 inches. These sizes equate to cooking areas of 479, 616, 640, 990 square inches respectively. There are five models in total.

The most popular model is the C-28 Freestanding which can be bought fully assembled. It’s great for small spaces and urban environments. Other C-series models are built-in variations.

The larger models have all the same features of the C-28 but are more powerful and come with some additional features.

S-Series

The S-series are also made from 304 stainless steel, but they have some high anti-corrosion properties. These grills come with stainless steel cooking grids for greater durability and have ceramic briquettes underneath to distribute heat and reduce flare-ups.

S-series grills come in three sizes, 30, 36, and 42 inches which will give you cooking areas of 497, 640, 990 square inches respectively. They have a lot of upgrades compared to the C-series including infrared burners, LED backlit knobs and rapid sear function.

You can also get a rotisserie kit and a smoker box for the S-series of grills giving you a lot more functionality. Like the C-series these grills feature infinity burners which each have a cooking power of 20,000 BTU.

Asado Smoker & Grill

Coyote’s Kamado-style smoker and grill is called the Asado. It’s very versatile and can be used for baking, as well as for grilling and smoking. The smoker is made from heat-resistant ceramic and has a cooking surface of 254 square inches.

A precise cooking temperature is maintained through the grill’s adjustable venting. You can choose from the grill, sear or smoke options when using the Asado.

There are a range of accessories available for the Asado including a chicken throne and a pizza stone. You can also buy a deflector stone which protects the food from direct flame and also reduces the cooking time.

Centaur Hybrid Grill

For the ultimate Coyote grill experience you need to take a look at the Centaur hybrid grill. This gives you the option of cooking with gas or with charcoal.

The charcoal grill has an adjustable fuel tray and more than 600 square inches of cooking space. It has adjustable dampers which control airflow and a choice of charcoal or wood chips for fuel.

Features of the gas grill are two high performance iBurners and more than 600 square inches of grilling space. This grill can produce 40,000 BTUs of cooking power.

What Makes A Good Grill?

There isn’t just one part of a grill that makes it good or great, it’s the combination of all its parts working together to produce something special. It should do what it’s designed to do and do it well.

Of course the quality of the components is very important as is the performance of the grill. Price plays a part too, if you spend a lot of money on a grill that promises to deliver then you rightly expect to get what you paid for.

Having spent money on a good grill you also want it to last and not have to replace parts too often.

Let’s take a look at the different things you may want to consider when deciding if a Coyote grill is right for you.

Steel Quality

The body of the grills are made from 304 stainless steel which is used due to the ease with which it is molded into various shapes. It is also more corrosion resistant than regular steel because it contains 18% chromium. This also allows the grills to maintain their shine.

Having said that, if you are living by the ocean salt water can be destructive when it comes to stainless steel so be aware of that when purchasing. A grill cover may be a good investment to maintain the quality and looks of your Coyote grill long term.

Burner Power

Coyote grills have great performance and their burner power comes from their infinity burners. These are a huge improvement on older style burners and each one is rated for 20,000 BTU.

This performance allows you to get a great sear on your food quickly and efficiently. With the lid closed the Coyote S-series attains 460 to 670 degrees Fahrenheit, great for searing and fast cooking.

However, if you’re looking to slow cook something the lowest it goes to is around 460 to 475 degrees Fahrenheit so that may be something to bear in mind.

Grates

The burners are only one part of the equation when it comes to a good grill and how well it performs. Coyote have high quality 304 stainless steel cooking grates for their S-series grills which are 8 millimeters thick.

You can purchase, as an option accessory, the Coyote laser cut signature grates for many of their grills and these allow great airflow, heat penetration and provide large surface areas.

The large grilling area allows you to cook multiple things at once on your grill, maximizing efficiency and making sure every inch of space is used.

Fuel Options

Coyote grills offer a range of different options for heating your grill including charcoal, wood pellets, LP gas, natural gas, and electricity. You can even have a hybrid grill which allows you to use gas if you are in a hurry or charcoal if you want that authentic barbecue taste.

Your choice of fuel will depend on the size of the grill, where it will be positioned, and whether you have a gas line that you can extend to your outdoor kitchen. Electric grills are perfect for urban environments, apartments and smaller outdoor spaces.

Ceramic Briquettes

The ceramic briquettes on Coyote’s gas grills are multi-functional. When cooking the food they distribute the heat more evenly which also saves money on fuel as ceramic retains heat so well. This produces more consistent results when cooking too.

In addition the ceramic briquettes redirect dripping grease and fat from foods away from the burners, which reduces flare-ups. As they do this they are also creating a caramelized, smoky aroma which further enhances the flavor of your food.

The ceramic briquettes are also easy to clean and much longer lasting than heat shields, some may even last five years.

Wind Protection

When cooking with gas grills in your backyard or outdoor kitchen you can have problems with wind disturbance. Coyote gas grills don’t typically come with a wind guard with the item listed as optional. They are available in 28 inch up to 42 inch for the various sized gas grills.

The wind guards are made of 304 stainless steel and are designed to stop the wind causing the flame to be buffeted, resulting in uneven cooking or the flame being blown out.

Warranties

Coyote offers a range of warranties including a limited lifetime warranty on its 304 stainless steel burners, frames and housings.

The company offers a 5 year limited warranty on cooking grids, a 2 year limited warranty on heat control grids, electric and plastic components. Finally, you will get a 1 year limited warranty on ignition systems and valves.

Warranties do not cover surface corrosion, discoloration or scratches which happen during normal use. It doesn’t cover labor charges, and you will be charged shipping and handling for warranty parts.

Extras

Coyote have a range of extras that you can purchase to enhance your grilling experience. These include rotisserie kits, smoker boxes, woks, and laser cut grates. You can even buy a collection of recipes that benefits women’s health research.

Safety items such as grill insulated jackets can be purchased if your grill sits in a combustible area such as a wood frame. There are also a range of different replacement ceramic briquettes for different sized grills.
